Individual Dance/Movement Psychotherapy

Group Dance/Movement Psychotherapy

Dance/movement therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses movement (alongside talking) to explore what’s happening inside you. Sometimes words aren’t enough, and movement can help express things that are hard to say.

Sessions might include gentle movement or creative expression through art, music, and play.

For Black women especially, this work offers space to soften the constant demand to be “strong.”

Here, you don’t have to perform or hold everything together. You get to feel, release, and redefine what strength looks like when it includes rest, joy, and care.

Group dance/movement therapy combines the healing power of movement with the support of community.

In these sessions, we explore shared themes like racial trauma, depression, or self-esteem using through movement, reflection, and conversation. Sometimes I use music, art, or other creative practices to deepen the experience.

For many Black women and girls, group work can be a powerful way to release the need to “go it alone” and practice being supported with and by others.

KIND WORDS FROM TASHA

For years, I thought being strong meant always pushing through, no matter what. But through my sessions with Jennifer, I learned it’s ok to slow down and take care of myself.

"I was depressed my whole life and finally I can experience joy...I have energy and friends. You helped me change my life!"

"I used to be depressed all the time. In the last 6 months, I've only felt really depressed once and the episode  lasted only a few days, not a few months (or years) like it used to."

KIND WORDS FROM AMARA

" I feel less depressed than I did before. After a year, I hardly feel depressed at all and when I do, I know how to manage it."
